Why Internet Marketing Just WORKS

Posted on August 25th, 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?

For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.

At its core, internet marketing is about these things:

* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads

Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.

My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.

My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers – as we do – and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.

However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.

Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.

Even though there are more sides to internet marketing than just email marketing (permission based), email has been the foundation that our business sits on.

A Short Look At The New MSN Bing

Posted on August 25th, 2009 in Uncategorized by Marcus Worthon

Ever since codename Kumo, was revealed as Microsoft’s latest search, sorry decision making engine, netizens everywhere have been curious to find out if Google has finally found a worthy competitor, in the sonorously worded Bing. Tongues started rolling ever since Microsoft acquired Powerset in July last year and the predictions have come true as Bing utilizes Powersets semantics driven search engine to give more intuitive search results.

The interface has certainly improved with lesser cluttered and easily lined search categories (Images, Videos, Shopping, News, Maps, and More) over the search bar. Bing also lets you enter your queries without wasting any time loading the image.

The explorer pane on the right side provides handy links to search categories, if any while a pop up window allows a sneak peek at the site contents before you open it. Bing also remembers your search history and displays similar search queries as you type, however this feature can be turned off to avoid potential embarrassment (a lesson for Google here!). This Check-in-Bing facility is also extended to Video results with excerpts of each video played within Bing itself. Images can also be easily found with a point by point search for size, shape or the presence of people and zoomed in for a better look with links to similar images as well.

Images and video searches have definitely improved over Live, with image searches yielding pop-up thumbnails, offering links to similar images. The biggest improvement however, is the Video search functionality which allows you to play videos inside the search engine with a simple mouse hover. The video search however, has the drawback of playing any videos that the search brings up. Disabling the safe search feature allows instant access to thousands of porn videos, which play in the browser, making Microsoft’s attempt to make Bing popular, a little under handed.

Using Bing Travel, you can actually find which airlines are cheaper and whether the prices would rise or fall. Shopping is a pleasure with user and expert reviews for every listing and every listing being a product itself with a Microsoft Cashback scheme in place, guaranteeing you with a discount on purchases made through Bing Shopping.

Bing certainly seems to be an ambitious project for Microsoft. The Beta is already available internationally, since 1st June and 60 engineers are currently working overtime to suit Bing up to public tastes and keyboards. Microsoft it seems is leaving no stone unturned in persuading the masses to Bang out Google with a Bing!

Website Business Success Made Simple By Focusing On Your Target Market

Posted on August 25th, 2009 in Uncategorized by Davenport Cox

People everywhere want to start a profitable internet business but there are not sure of where to start. You motivations may be to one day quit your day job o you may have an existing offline business that you want to take online. Either way, the internet can be a great starting point and business building tool to achieve your goals.

When you are in the planning stages of staring an internet business, aside from understanding the needs of your market, the first thing you want to take to heart is the way your website is designed. The cookie cutter approach does not work in all instances. You want your site to stand out as unique. This means you will have to learn how to build your own site or farm it out.

If you decide to hire a professional website developer, be prepared to pay no less than $1000 for a basic design. You can save a lot of money by learning the skills of the trade. It may take you much longer to launch, but the skills you learn will serve your well for a long time.

So why should you consider doing it yourself? Well for starters, you will be able to create it the way you want it. This is important when you have a clear image in your mind as to how you want your site to look. If a professional does it for you, you will get a nice looking site but it may not be exactly what you wanted.

When you learn the skills to creating your own site design, this will help later on when you want to make changes. A well developed website will always undergo periodic change to reflect new technologies. If you had to pay a web designer each time you wanted to incorporate a change, it could get costly.

The most profitable sites online are those that cater to the needs of their visitors. It does not matter if you need a website to generate new leads for your visitors or are selling some type of product, the site you design should be driven from the perspective of your visitors and their needs and desires.

By building a site that speaks to your visitors, they will gain confidence in your ability to help them solve their problems and achieve their goals. Too often, this is not the case and people wonder why their websites are not converting into new leads and generating sales.

Websites that target specific needs, wants and desires of a market or niche with specific solutions always win. When a person comes to your website and sees that you truly understand what they need to accomplish, most often they will reach out to you. This may result in you getting a new lead or making a sale.

When you are in the planning stages of your website, use the AIDA formula to help guide your design, website copy and core action your want your visitor to take. AIDA stands for attention, interest, desire and action and has been proven to work in sales copy and website design for many years. It is the same formula that underwrites the success of high converting sales letters. Follow these tips and the money will follow.

Every Problem Your Employees Have By Osmosis Become Yours

Posted on August 25th, 2009 in Uncategorized by Richard Moran

All of us with our own businesses, or even those employed to manage a department of a larger business depend upon our employees to facilitate the actual operations of our companies/departments. If an employees output or interaction with others is suffering, that problem will instantaneously become yours as well as the employees. The business operates in and around its employees and any problem filters throughout the business or department. Many times this behavior by an employee will be interpreted as a deficiency in their character and permanent. But this is not always true, such as those employees who are experiencing marital problems or issues with their children. Only by addressing these problems with your employee can you determine if a marital fight is the cause and will be forgotten in a few days or longer term issues are at stake such as drugs or alcohol.

Studies have shown that the true cause for most employees’ performance problems has nothing to do with their character. Of course, there are always exceptions to this rule, but if you are having problems with an employee who was otherwise fine, you may want to look deeper into the problem before jumping to conclusions. Many times, the causes of these problems root in a few basic categories. The employee’s problem may have to do with their home environment, training or ability problems, job design problems, work environment problems, personal problem or expectation problems. When investigating a problematic employee, these are the places you will want to start. You will come to find out, that if any of the employee’s problems are rooted in the work place, that this is very important and must be fixed. If their problems are in the work place, their personal problems are definitely yours as well. Many times, an employee may not know what is expected out of them on every level and this is where expectation problems come in.

If you are running a relatively new company, this is a good place to start. In fact, an employee may not even know that there is a problem if he or she does not know all of what is expected from them. There simply could have been some communication errors at their hire and they have no idea that they are not doing all of their expected tasks. If one of your employees is not doing all of their job’s tasks, you will certainly feel this personal problem. Expectation problems can usually be easily remedied with a review or a simple talk.

The overall work atmosphere is also important to maintain employee happiness and production. Lighting, heat/air conditioning, and an employees workspace, if not maintained to high standards may make for unhappy employees. Every employee understands conservation but removing half the fluorescent tubes to save energy and thereby making an office dark and dreary is not a smart decision. Most employees understand measures taken to more economically run your business but having the heat on 62 degrees in January while you travel to Switzerland for your ski vacation will not endear anyone to your business. All measure should be explained and any employees grips addressed to the best of your ability – this will ultimately make for a happier, better performing workforce.
